We had poor weather which has affected this review. The allocated pitch had not seen grass for a long time, consequently the pitch was a mud bath. With no exaggeration we stepped in and out of the caravan into 10mm of mud. It seems obvious that all the sites efforts are put into looking after the static holiday homes. I think part of the problem is lack of competition. We would not come here again and would not have stayed if we had not pre booked.
The best thing about this site is the access to Bordeaux by bus from right outside the site. The owner has bus timetables available. It is easy to get into Bordeaux if a bit slow and also very easy to find the correct stop to get the return bus. Bordeaux well worth visiting.
The site is otherwise fine- clean, well run, small clean swimming pool.
Lovely site just off main road but any road noise was in the distance. Shady and sunny pitches. Great pool. Friendly site staff. Meals good. Bus stop outside but buses not that frequent so drove to nearest tram stop and parked up for free.
Handy campsite for Bordeaux with a bus stop outside. We had a large grassy pitch a long way from the road but still heard some road noise early in the morning. Toilet facilities a bit gloomy and the showers were barely luke warm but a large function room with TV had excellent free wifi which made a nice warm place to keep in touch with friends/family via Skype.
Very secure sight. No daily bread delivery in April.
Site was a welcome stop over. Toilets were good. Little facilities open but it\'s the middle of February. We ended up on the roadway opposite pitch as pitches were very wet. It was a welcome stopover
Used this as a stop over site from Spain back up to St Malo. Large pitches with clean showers. It is a shame that the pool shuts at the beginning of September as we would have loved a dip when we got here. Good value for money and friendly staff.
We did not consider the site as suitable for disabled persons
the pitches were either grass or shingle neither of which is
suitable for a wheelchair , the toilet block did have a ramp at the other side of the building from the pitches along a shingle track to reach it ,,the door into it had a \"step\" to be got over in a wheelchair !
Inside the washblock there were no disabled toilets only a
\"larger\" washroom the door of which was too small to get
through in a wheelchair , also there were no disabled toilets or
any facilities that could be seen or could be offered on site
when this was queried , all in all the site is suitable for
ambulant persons only and is not entitled to be described
by the wheelchair disabled sign in the literature as suitable
for disabled persons
This campsite is ideal for visiting Bordeaux and the surrounding area.
The pitch we were allocated was on gravel because the pitches were waterlogged, water was accessed via a tap on a lamppost.
Toilet facilities were clean and new.
Wi-Fi was free and available through a booster from an aerial at reception. The restaurant, shop and swimming pool were all closed.
There were some great drives around the many vineyards of the area and walks around the local towns and villages.
We would use the site again if we were in the area.
We used this site as an overnight stop.
The receptionist spoke good English and there were security barriers to enter and exit the site.
Unfortunately due to the recent bad weather and the majority of the pitches being grass our pitch was muddy under foot. The toilet/shower block was modern and clean with plenty of hot water but there was a slight smell of drains. As the toilet/shower block was communal this did make it slightly uncomfortable when going to the toilet with half naked men having a wash in the sink right outside. We did have wifi connection on our pitch but it was really intermittent. We personally wouldn\'t use this site again as an overnight stop however we may consider it if visiting Bordeaux.
We used this site as a stopover in early February on our route down to Spain. The Atlantic coast of France at that stage was getting the same storms as back in the UK through Storm Imogen. Much of the fields were flooded and the winds were gale force. The site was obviously not fully open and just the bare necessities were provided. That said the staff were excellent and friendly, the shower blocks were spotless and partially heated. The grass pitches were very wet (as to be expected) but they found us (and others) some hardstandings which were great. Creon is 2 miles away and has a large Carrefour and petrol station. Lots of other shops as well. Will definitely use it again.
