Stayed here for just one night. It was the warmest night of the whole holiday around 38c. Swimming pool very welcome and very good, no shorts! only Speedo\'s! Site as part of equestrian centre so if you into horses this is right up your street. Pitches were spacious and level, the one we had was acceptable others were in need of a little TLC and the use of a mower/strimmer. Showers were very good and clean. Staff friendly, English spoken but not by everyone. The night we were there we seem to have a large number of flies possibly due to the weather or the horses, not sure. Slept with all windows and doors open with just the mesh over to try and keep cool. Restaurant closed for the time we were there but it looked clean and well presented.Easy to walk into town and the nearness of a supermarket was a bonus. Beach was ok but typical of this area water goes a long way out.
Nice site close to town and supermarket, a little disappointed as ACSI book states \"groceries limited\" shop was never open, restaurant, takeaway, snack bar, pizzeria and bar only open weekends despite stating open from 01/06. Electric points for pitches can be a long way away some had their leads across roadways, worst thing for us was eaten alive by mosquitoes so only spent a week instead of 3 weeks there, would pay to check when mozzie season is
Beautiful campsite. Big pitches, a lot of space. Toilet facilities were good. Staff was ok. Lovely island to visit.
The thing I didnt really like was the music from the camping bar which you could hear all night in your tent. In the camping 'rules' it says that it has to be silent after 10 pm (even dish washing after that time is not allowed) but the most noise (music/people singing and talking loud) actually comes from their own bar. One night it was so bad that I couldn't even read a book next to our tent.
Camping for us was about getting away from a crowded city to a place of calmth, so it didn't really feel like that. Do note that we only had a tent, so we had no sound isolation whatsoever. If you're going with a caravan (or if you like hanging out at a camping bar) you probably won't be bothered by it.
Lovely spacious pitches, tho when we camped most were still to be mown. Good toilet facilities but washbasins needed a bit of a clean up. Lovely pool area with bar and restaurant, which was open, but no bread available. Friendly staff. Nice walk into Chateau d'Oleron with a good range of shops and restaurants. Excellent daily market.
This is a clean, tidy, safe and friendly run site. Alan, the owner, is a very helpful guy and is gives advice freely. The site is ideally situated with a lovely half a mile stroll to the picturesque port or to the Super U supermarket just outside the town.
