Well maintained campsite close to Monschau. Pitches marked out by trees and hedges. Good restaurant. A good starting point for walks in the Nord Eifel Nature Park, Eifel National Park and the Hoge Venen. 500 metres from a large retail outlet.

We chose to stay at Zum Jones to re visit Monschau again after 25yrs. Access with my outfit was not a problem, the site is a mix of seasonal, static, touring and tents. The walk from the site into Monschau is a good 3.5km, quite pleasant, downhill through woodland, but it is uphill on the return and is hard going on a hot day and probably worse on a wet day. A day in Monschau was enough for us but we did have a drive round the Eiffel National Park and thought it would be worth another visit in the future.
The bar and restaurant on site was not open so we cannot comment. The showers use a token which provides hot water for 5min, (which was plenty), The reception did close from 13.00 - 15.00 and the barrier stayed down for the same time so there was no vehicle access during that time.( not a problem if you plan ahead and it suited us because we wanted a later departure).
Typical of the area, the site accepts cash only, it's either to avoid tax or cards must cost them more in Germany to process.
We stayed here for 3 nights on our way home mainly to visit Monschau which is nearby but would be a steep walk back so we took the car. A lovely place despite the rain. Site staff were helpful and spoke good English and the site is in a good location with Aldi (undergoing refurbishment when we were there), Lidl & other shops nearby. Our pitch was fairly small and up a steep bank and would have been difficult without a mover. Weather was poor while we were there but we also visited the Rursee which was a good day out and the Eifel area would have been easy to visit if we'd had more time, Free WiFi around the restaurant area which worked well and good toilet facilities. We'd visit again if in the area.
Had to ask for barrier number and tokens for the showers. Electricity was tripped on our space and the
Lady seemed to blame us. Tripped again next morning although we only had the fridge and kettle on. Although ACSI says restaurant is open all year it was closed and did not open until May. No bar. Asked about restaurants in near village and was told there were 3 which there were but she omitted to tell us Tuesday was a rest day and therefore they were all closed. Chemical toilet disposal was padlocked closed and grey waste point difficult to find -not on the site map.swimming pool full of rubbish and obviously not emptied from last season. No parking at entrance for caravans when you arrive although there is hard standing that has been fenced off. Would not recommend.
Visited the site in May 2016 and was very much impressed with the facilities, the shower block was first class with plenty of hot water, the restaurant was reasonable priced and the meal excellent, would definitely return.
Toilets modern and clean. Pitches reasonably sized, and well kept. Have visited this site before and would definitely return in the future
Arrived at site as person was leaving for lunch, they gave us 2 shower tokens and card for barrier and left. We only found out that you really have to put the nose of your van right up to the barrier to get in, if they had stayed to see us in, this would not have happened. Not a problem on a sunny day, but it was hailing and cold. The pitch was on grass, which was okay. Water was still cut off, so used our water carriers. There is a walk to the rear of the site to get to Monschau which is really pretty.
If we were in the area we would go again, but would be aware of the barrier and water in winter.
We visited the Christmas Market in Monschau for a couple of hours by coach in 2011 and decided to go back with our motorhome using this campsite. We were there for a couple of days in early December 2012. The motorhome service point was not available as it had been prepared for winter. This was not a problem as we take clean and grey water carriers in winter. It was very cold and snowed whilst we were there making this already beautiful area even more so. The winter shower block was wonderfully warm as were the showers and hot water. The restaurant served super food at very reasonable prices. The owners were very friendly and helpful. If you are going to the Christmas Market I would highly recommend this site. You can walk through the wood or catch the ' park and ride bus' to the market.
This was a well managed site. The facilities were good and clean. The showers cost 1 euro but were good and hot, so didn't mind paying. There was hot water in the basins in the shower cubicles and also for washing dishes. Site was busy when we arrived but everyone was friendly and the site emptied quite a bit after a few days. The area is lovely forested hills - some good cycling on an old railway - fantastic surface which goes through the forest and extends for about 60 miles. The nearest shopping is in Imgenbroich - there is a good choice and Monschau, a beautiful historic town is about a mile away. If we were in the area again would definitely stay there.
